So, you’re the proud new owner of an Adrienne Landau faux fur jacket, faux fur coat, faux fur vest, or faux fur blanket. We love that. To enjoy your new piece for years to come, we have some recommendations about how to care for it.

The good news? You can easily care for your faux fur coat, faux fur blanket, or faux fur hat at home.

Handwashing is the Safest Choice

It also offers the lowest risk for damaging your new faux fur vest! Mix 1 to 2 teaspoons of a mild detergent, such as Woolite or Studio by Tide, in a large basin of water, then submerge your faux fur. Swish it around for 10-15 minutes, being gentle.

Next, rinse the faux fur with fresh water, and when the water is clear (aka no more soap), gently squeeze out as much water as possible — without wringing! A thick bath towel can also help you get all the water out. Then, hang it to dry and wait, keeping your faux fur garment out of direct sunlight. You may have to reposition it and fluff it to avoid crush marks. Pro tip: Don’t store it or wear it until it’s dry (which could take 24-48 hours).

Don’t Put It in The Dryer

Heat can melt the synthetic fibers that make up your new faux fur blanket, causing them to melt together and be a big, matted mess — and you can’t reverse it. Need to get our wrinkles? Use a steamer on your faux fur on a low setting.

Brush It Out

Use a soft-bristled brush to work out any mats in the faux fur. You can also use a spray bottle filled with 1 tsp conditioner and 2 cups of warm water to get out any tangles. After you’re done, wipe it off.

Treat Stains

Oh, no! You dropped something on your long pile faux fur! To treat a stain, put a drop of mild laundry detergent on the stain and rub gently with your fingers or a clean cloth until the stain is gone. Then use a damp cloth (splashed with cold water) to rinse away the detergent and let dry.

Care for your Adrienne Landau faux fur jacket and you’ll be enjoying its timeless style for years to come.
